Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum in Berlin (Unter den Linden, near the Brandenburg Gate) opened in 2008. On 2,500 square meters one can admire around 120 wax figure celebrities from history, politics, sports, pop culture and Hollywood.
Marie Tussaud (born Grosholtz) was an art teacher and ended up in prison during the French Revolution. She had to prove her loyalty to the revolutionaries by hand-crafting death masks for executed citizens (including her previous employers King Louis XIV and Marie Antoinette).
