This is where Markus Heckhausen first screwed his Ampelmännchen lamps together himself. In 2001 he opened the first and original AMPELMANN shop in the Hackesche Höfe.

The first and original AMPELMANN shop opened in the Hackesche Höfe in 2001. Our first registered office was here in the beautiful craftsmen’s courtyards in the Hackescher Markt, which are over 100 years old and are famous well beyond Berlin. At that time, it was still quiet here, and it was artists and adventurers to Berlin who came here first. Today there is enticing big-city life and plenty of culture to be enjoyed around the Hackesche Höfe. Shoes, designer objects, distinctive fashion? In the Hackesche Höfe there is a whole string of restaurants and international brand name stores.
